Kayla Borgess, Founder, CEO, Franchisor
At the heart of emmUcare (formerly Helping Hands Home Health) is founder and CEO Kayla Borgess, a passionate healthcare professional and entrepreneur who built the company into a growing woman-owned home healthcare organization dedicated to compassionate in-home care.
Kayla’s journey in healthcare began at a young age when she was inspired by her late grandmother, Judy Bailey, founder of Heartland Personal Care Home in Woolrich, Pennsylvania. She started working as a Nurse’s Aide in 2008, which led her to pursue nursing school. In 2011, she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and gained hands-on experience working at Divine Providence Hospital in Williamsport, PA and later at Clinton County Prison.
During her time in nursing, Kayla recognized the growing need for quality home healthcare services and saw how many aging adults preferred to remain in the comfort of their own homes rather than move into institutional care. Motivated to make a difference, she founded Helping Hands Home Health, which later evolved into emmUcare.
What began as a one-computer startup in Kayla’s home quickly grew into a thriving woman-owned healthcare business. As demand increased, the company expanded into multiple office locations across Pennsylvania, including Williamsport, Bloomsburg, State College, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh. In addition, Kayla launched Helping Hands Home Medical Supplies to further support healthcare needs within the community.
Today, Kayla leads emmUcare’s continued expansion and franchise development, helping entrepreneurs bring high-quality non-skilled home care services to their communities. Her mission remains focused on improving the lives of older adults and individuals who need support at home, while building a strong and scalable healthcare brand.
Outside of business, Kayla is a wife, mother of five children, and a leader who believes in empowering others through opportunity, compassion, and service.

EmmUcare began in May 2017 as Helping Hands Home Health, founded with a mission to provide compassionate, in-home care for aging adults and individuals needing support at home. Between 2017 and 2022, the company expanded to five locations across Pennsylvania, serving communities from Williamsport to Pittsburgh. During this time, the organization was honored as Best Agency of Central PA multiple years, recognizing its commitment to excellence in home healthcare. The company also launched Helping Hands Home Medical Supplies in Williamsport to provide clients with essential medical equipment and support. In July 2023, emmUcare began its journey toward franchising and underwent a rebrand, marking a new era of growth and opportunity. Today, as a woman-owned home healthcare brand, emmUcare continues to expand, empowering franchise partners to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to communities nationwide.
