As the founder and guiding light of the organization, her remarkable story has led to the creation of Helping Hands Home Health and its mission to provide a helping hand to aging Americans.
A Visionary From the Start
Kayla has always been a visionary with a keen eye for opportunity and a relentless drive to make a positive impact in the community. She was first introduced into health care as a child by her late grandmother Judy Bailey who founded Heartland Personal Care Home in Woolrich, PA. Her nursing journey began as a Nurses Aid in 2008 working for her grandmother's personal care home. This led her in the direction of going to nursing school, eventually becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. By 2011 she graduated from nursing school and left Heartland to start her career as a Psyche Nurse at Divine Providence Hospital in Williamsport, PA moving onto work as a Nurse at Clinton County Prison. This helped steer her down a path that would shape the future to come.
A Pivotal Moment
The pivotal moment in Kayla's life came when she recognized the demand for quality in-home healthcare and the opportunities within the industry. She quickly realized that aging Americans prefer to stay in the comfort of their home than to be placed into a nursing home or retirement facility. Rather than accepting the status quo, she decided to take matters into her own hands. This determination led to the founding of Helping Hands Home Health.
The Journey
EmmUcare, formerly named Helping Hands Home Health began as a small operation based in Kayla's home, where she initially worked with just one computer. During this time, she juggled this initiative while working full-time as a nurse.
As the business grew, Helping Hands Home Health achieved significant progress, eventually leading to the opening of its first physical office location in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. She still maintained her nursing position at this point. The success of Helping Hands Home Health led her to make a life-changing decision. She decided to leave her nursing position to focus on operating Helping Hands Home Health full-time.
The growth continued as Helping Hands Home Health expanded its services by opening its second office location in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
Following the success of the second office, Helping Hands Home Health continued its expansion by opening the third office location in State College, Pennsylvania.
The growth trajectory remained strong, resulting in the opening of the fourth office location in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Shortly after the establishment of the Harrisburg office, Helping Hands Home Health reached another milestone by opening its fifth and most recent office location in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In addition to the office locations, Helping Hands Home Health expanded its services by launching Helping Hands Home Medical Supplies, a local medical supply store located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
This outlines the evolution of Helping Hands Home Health from its humble beginnings in Kayla's home to its expansion into multiple office locations and the introduction of a medical supply store.
